Kettwig railway accident

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Kettwig railway accident on February 8 or 28, 1923, two military trains of the French occupying forces collided between Düsseldorf and Kettwig . 28 people died.

Starting position

During the Allied occupation of the Rhineland , there were numerous railway accidents . A number of these were based on acts of sabotage by German railway personnel and third parties against the regional railway operated by the French occupying forces in their area . Others were caused by deficiencies in vehicles and infrastructure or the improper handling of vehicles and regulations by the French military. Often detailed information is missing because the crew basically prevented information from leaking out in such incidents. In this case, too, more detailed information is not available.

consequences

28 people died and many more were injured.
