The Hornberg Railway Viaduct is a vaulted bridge of the Baden Black Forest Railway that was built between 1924 and 1925 and spans the Reichenbachtal in Hornberg . It is the only viaduct of the Black Forest Railway.
The viaduct is 150 m long, 24 m high and has seven arches, each 14.50 m wide, which rest on six pillars and two mighty abutments . It consists of around 14,000 m³ of concrete and is clad with around 3800 m³ of granite stones. The construction made it possible to replace an old double-track steel bridge built between 1869 and 1871 and to expand the track system to three tracks . This became necessary due to the increasing traffic and the use of heavier locomotives .
