The Deggendorf ice rink is an ice rink in the city of Deggendorf and the venue for the home games of the Deggendorfer SC ice hockey club from the Oberliga Süd .

history

The hall in was built in 1972 and 1973 in two construction phases. Construction phase I included the 30 × 60 meter ice rink, grandstands and the company building. Today's sports café has also already been completed. The roof was erected during the second construction phase in 1973. By setting up the seats, the capacity fell from around 5000 to a good 4000 spectators.

The stadium was equipped with a new perimeter in summer 2008. The roof, which was badly damaged in the winter of the century in 2005/06, was also thoroughly renovated. At the beginning of July 2013 it became known that the stadium roof had to be renovated due to "massive progress in the formation of mold and rot" in the glued beams of the roof construction. The building contractor Günther Karl from Innernzell , founder of the Karl group of companies , acquired the stadium under heritable building rights for 30 years and in a concerted action, the dilapidated roof was removed and a new, modern steel roof erected in an almost six-week renovation phase. The capacity was reduced to 2790 spectators. On November 24, 2013, Deggendorfer SC was able to play the first game under the new hall roof against the Blue Devils Weiden .

In March 2016, the city of Deggendorf announced that it would buy back the ice rink for an estimated 8.4 million euros. However, with a federal grant of 2 million euros, the actual costs for the city would only be 6.4 million euros.

From October 2016 to August 2018 the further renovation, the partial renovation of the functional building and the addition of a new usage area took place.
