Eiszeit is the fourth studio album by the German band Eisbrecher . It was released in 2010. Eiszeit was the first to reach the top 10 of the German album charts in the band's history. The album debuted at number 5. The album was released in three versions: a ten-track standard version, a deluxe edition with three bonus tracks, including two remixes, and a limited edition with, in addition to the bonus tracks, live material from a performance in Stuttgart in 2009.

style

The style moves, like on the previous album Sünde, between electronics and rock, but in general the sound has become more poppy, which the titles Eiszeit and Dein Weg , a ballad show. Comparisons with Depeche Mode have often been made . Similarities to the hit were seen in the piece Die Engel .

Texts

Eisbrecher stated in interviews that the title of the album came from the cold that reigns in people. This is reflected, among other things, in the lyrics of the songs Eiszeit and Amok . The general cult of the body is discussed in Supermodel .

Thomas Pilgrim was clearly negative about the lyrics: “And when Wesselsky declaims his slogan-like Provo lyrics with something that can best be described as a strong male voice, one would almost like to imitate him: Much ado about nothing. No love without blows. Copying is better than studying. All of them certainly no lyrical fame sheets. But not much worse than lines like 'Knife, fork, scissors, light / are not for small children / hand grenade, assault rifle / but love them very much.' "

reception

Michael Edele from Laut.de called Eiszeit "a largely good album". It awarded three out of five stars. On Whiskey-soda.de the album was described as "by far the best work of the Bavarians". A one was awarded after school grades.

Andreas Schulz wrote on musikreviews.de : “You can legitimately think icebreakers shit, but you don't have to. 'Eiszeit' is a good album that certainly won't win a creativity competition, but it sums up Eisbrecher's strengths and can best be compared to a good action film: not necessarily demanding, but entertaining. "

Thomas Pilgrim wrote for plattentests.de : “Eisbrecher are not only on the mat with their fourth album, but have surely already kicked the door in by now. The dense metal guitars bolt brutally, sweaty computer beats and electro fanfares grow up to monstrous ivory towers, addicted to the big man. "
