Protein defects

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protein error is the reduced effectiveness of chemical disinfectants in the presence of proteins (proteins) or material containing protein (e.g. blood , serum , pus ). The disinfectant causes the proteins to coagulate , whereby the pathogens trapped therein are protected from inactivation or killing, which is why the pathogens are still on the material to be disinfected after disinfection and can cause disease.

Depending on the type of disinfectant, the protein defect is different. For example, quaternary ammonium compounds and alcohols have a strong protein defect , while phenols and aldehydes have a minor protein defect.

In general, you should first clean the object to be disinfected and remove any coarse, adhering dirt. If a protein error occurs anyway, you should either change the concentration of the disinfectant or use one with a minor protein error.
