Ekkehard II of Nellenburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ekkehard II. Von Nellenburg (* around 1035/40; † November 24, 1088 ) was abbot of the Reichenau monastery from 1071 to 1088.

Ekkehard II came from the noble family of the Counts of Nellenburg . When he was elected abbot by the monks, he was also influenced by his father Eberhard VI. supported by Nellenburg on the monastery and on the emperor. His father provided the Reichenau Monastery with foundations for relatives buried on Reichenau. Ekkehard's position in the investiture dispute must be seen against this background.
