Ekkehart Baumgartner

Ekkehart Baumgartner (born January 2, 1964 in Starnberg ) is a German social scientist , author of fiction as well as non-fiction and essayist.

Life

Ekkehart Baumgartner studied sociology and social economy in Hamburg . With a social-psychological work on the early work emergence of German writers of the modern age, he was a PhD . He worked as a reporter and features journalist a. a. for the Süddeutsche Zeitung , Frankfurter Rundschau , the Deutschlandfunk . In addition to journalistic articles, he has also published essays on society, culture and design theory . He is the author of plays, short stories and novels. Before he became a university lecturer in 2008, he also worked as a copywriter, concept developer and creative director in agencies. He became Managing Director of the AMD Akademie Mode & Design (2010–2013), Vice President for the newly established Department of Design at the University of Fresenius (2013–2017), then also Vice President for Studies and Teaching at this university (from 2017). He is the editor of a series of university publications (Visual Cultures) and the author of the Federal Government's White Book on the Future of Design (publisher: iF Foundation, 2020).
