Elías Muñoz García (born November 3, 1941 in Palo Verde) is a former Mexican football player on the position of the striker , who mostly acted as a right winger.

Life

Muñoz made his debut in the Mexican Primera División at the Club Universidad Nacional . On December 3, 1966, Muñoz contributed with two goals to the highest victory of the sporting newcomer Club Universidad Nacional against the established city rivals Club America , which was defeated 4-1 for a long time . Incidentally, for more than 20 years it was the Pumas' highest victory against the Cremas ; one of the most important football derbies in Mexico for decades . It was not until January 13, 1991 that there was a win with a three-goal difference for the first time with a 5-2 win. After his great time with the Pumas, Muñoz played with CD Zacatepec and then with CF Torreón .

National team

Muñoz made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on April 24, 1966 in a game against Paraguay, which was won 7-0.

His last international match took place on September 29, 1968 against Ethiopia (3-0).

The highlight of his international playing career was participation in the 1966 World Cup , where he was part of the Mexican World Cup squad , but was not used.
