history
The company was founded in 1994 in Erfurt under the name Porta Windows and Doors AG as a holding company for the manufacturer of windows, doors, winter gardens and stairs founded in 1966 as a joinery. In 1998 the headquarters were relocated to Porta Westfalica and the holding was renamed Porta Systems AG . In 2000 Porta Systems employed around 550 people. On January 24, 2003, Porta Systems filed for bankruptcy due to impending insolvency and keen competition in the industry . Around 270 employees were affected by the bankruptcy. The operative business was separated from the company and operates today as Porta Bauelemente & more GmbH & Co. KG , based in Linthe . After the insolvency proceedings were concluded in 2008, Porta Systems AG looked around for investment opportunities. At the beginning of 2014 it was announced that the Swiss biotech company Elanix Technologies, which was previously completely privately held and which specializes in the area of skin regeneration and stem cell research , would like to take over the stock market of Porta Systems AG in the form of a reverse IPO . Elanix Technologies was founded in 2013 as a spin-off from the University Hospital of Lausanne , already markets two over-the-counter drugs in Switzerland and plans to expand to other European countries in September 2016. On December 9, 2015, the operational divisions of the Swiss Elanix Technologies SA were brought in with the Entry in the commercial register completed and Porta Systems AG renamed Elanix Biotechnologies AG.
