The same movie theater (even same cinema , according to inscription on the facade same theater ) is a since 1954 existing cinema in the Osdorfer highway where in Hamburg located west district Osdorf . It is one of the few typical suburban cinemas in Hamburg that has outlasted the dying of cinema since the 1970s. The cinema is operated by the film theater operator Hans-Peter Jansen , who is mainly active with small regional cinemas with the Blankeneser Kino , Koralle-Kino , Studio Kino in Hamburg, ASTRA Filmtheater Plön and Burg Filmtheater Fehmarn .

The program focuses on post-shows, films for children and young people as well as high-quality films.

The projection room offers 260 seats. The technical equipment includes a screen of 70 m² and a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound system.

history

The cinema was opened in 1954 by the Neumünster company Kaffenberger & Co. on the site of the former Stadt Hamburg inn at Osdorfer Landstrasse 198 under the name Osdorfer-Lichtspiele . It is set up in a neoclassical two-story hall building . The foyer is located in a flat roof extension on the gable side of the house facing the street, the entrance of which is flanked by two small shops. Initially the house offered 515 and from 1961 a total of 419 seats. In 1965, Philipp Kaffenberger and Walter Mehrens took over the cinema, which they gave the name Elbe-Filmtheater , which is still used today . In the meantime, the seating has been reduced to 324 seats. In 1975 Jörg Ramcke took over the business and since 1997 the cinema entrepreneur Hans-Peter Jansen has been the owner of the house. The cinema has had 260 seats since around 1991.

reception

The cinema is considered to be a “traditional” film theater that focuses “on the real cinema buffs” with its program. The annual program of the Elbe-Filmtheater has repeatedly been recognized as excellent by the federal ministries and the Hamburg cultural authority .
