history

In 1786 the foundation stone was laid for the building, which was initially intended as a residential and commercial building. Later it was only used as a barn.

In 1998, the plans for the restoration and conversion of the building, which was in dire need of renovation, began. The restoration was completed in 2003. The project was financed with public funds from the European Union , the Landesverband Lippe and the Office for Agricultural Regulation . In addition, around 13,000 hours of personal contribution by the citizens as well as through employment and qualification measures were used.

The renovation created a multifunctional room that is now used for cultural events. There is space for around 160 spectators. The Elbrinx amateur theater regularly uses the house for its performances. Artists like Hennes Bender, Emmi and Herr Willnowsky, Maybebop and Sebastian Schnoy also perform here.

A small meeting room and a kitchen have been set up for meetings of the local associations. The rescue station of the German Red Cross is also housed in the building.

The Elbrinxer Marktscheune is operated by the Elbrinxen Local Authority and Tourist Office.
