Eldama Ravine is a town of about 32,000 people in Baringo County , Kenya .
The city was founded in 1887. During the British colonial times the city was called Shimoni. In 1992 the city was named a Town council . In 1979 there were almost 4,000 people in Eldama Ravine, in 1999 the population had increased to 10,500, and in 2008 the population was estimated at over 32,000.
Sports
Since 2014, the city of Eldama Ravine has organized the Chemususu Dam Half Marathon every September . In addition to a half marathon on a hilly route, there is also a 10 km road run.
