Elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization

The elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization (“elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization”) is a foundation that was founded in December 2006 by the couple Susanna and Peter Wuffli and the lawyer Harold Grüninger. When it was entered in the commercial register of the Canton of Zurich , it was endowed with foundation capital of CHF 20 million .

The foundation got its name after that of Greek sailors in 540 BC. Chr. , Founded in southern Italy and then abandoned in the 9th century port city of Elea . It is intended to «deepen awareness of global networking, promote an ethical orientation in globalization and open up new perspectives for those affected by global change processes». The foundation's work should focus on “promoting knowledge about economic relationships in Switzerland and directly combating globalization-related poverty abroad”.

Peter Wuffli is President, Andreas R. Kirchschläger is Managing Director of the Board of Trustees .
