Altec Lansing

Altec Lansing is a US company with a long tradition, which today operates worldwide and produces loudspeakers , sound systems , headsets , headphones and microphones for personal computers ; the German distribution is based in Remscheid.

history

In 1928 , the US company Western Electric founded Electric Research Products, Inc. (ERPI); from this the All Technical Products Company split off in the 1930s , which in turn took over the Lansing Manufacturing Company from James Bullough Lansing (see also JBL ). The official establishment date of Altec Lansing Corporation is May 1st, 1941.

In the 1940s, Altec Lansing primarily manufactured loudspeakers for movie theaters and military equipment for detecting submarines . In 1947 the company took over the Peerless Electrical Products Company and from then on also became involved in the hi-fi sector.

In the 1950s, Altec Lansing also equipped cinemas with the voice-of-the-theater equipment that switched to stereo sound .

In the 1990s, Altec Lansing introduced the first PC audio system (1990) and from 1995 cooperated with Dell Computers , who bundled their PCs with Altec Lansing loudspeaker systems. In this way the company was able to establish market leadership in the PC audio segment, which lasted until the beginning of the 21st century.

At the same time, Altec Lansing became known as a manufacturer of high-end products in the car hi-fi sector.
