Eleftheros Typos

Eleftheros Typos ( Greek Ελεύθερος Τύπος 'free press') is an Athens daily newspaper with a conservative orientation.

history

Eleftheros Typos was founded in 1983 by the entrepreneur Aris Voudouris . When Voudouris and his wife Lilian had a fatal accident in 1989, Makis Sarris, a family friend, became the head of the newspaper. The newspaper was supported by conservative politicians such as Miltiadis Evert and Giannis Barbitsiotis . In 2007 Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki bought the newspaper together with her husband. In 2009, the couple sold the newspaper, which was temporarily discontinued in 2009 and then reprinted under the new owners.
