Elena Lukauskienė

Elena Lukauskienė (formerly Raclauskienė , nee Stankevičiūtė ; * January 1, 1909 , † March 17, 1959 ) was a Lithuanian chess player and Lithuanian women's individual champion.

Life

Elena Stankevičiūtė grew up in the then Lithuanian capital Kaunas . Raclauskienė took part in the 1939 World Chess Championship for women , where she finished 18th. After the Second World War she took part in tournaments in the Soviet Union . In 1949 she was the Soviet-Lithuanian women's individual champion. In 1950, 1951, 1952 she took 3rd place in the Soviet-Lithuanian women's chess championship .

Elena Lukauskienė was one of the Righteous Among the Nations from Lithuania . In 1944, her family took in two Jewish children from the Kauen concentration camp .

She was married twice. Her first husband was Raclauskas and the second Mikas Lukauskas (1911–1996), a master in the “Žaibas” printing works. The family lived in Žaliakalnis , Kaunas .
