Eleonora Vlaicov

Eleonora Vlaicov , married. Eleonora Mihalca , (* 1945 ) is a former Romanian table tennis player . In the 1960s and early 1970s she was one of the top table tennis players in Romania and took part in six world championships , where she won two silver medals in 1969. She recorded numerous successes in doubles with Maria Alexandru .

Career

Eleonora Vlaicov married in the early 1970s and then appeared under the name Mihalca or Vlaicov-Mihalca .

She first appeared internationally in 1962 when she made it to the finals at the European Youth Championships in Bled with Mariana Jeandrescu.

In the period from 1966 to 1968 she was Romanian champion five times, in 1969 in singles, from 1966 to 1968 three times in doubles with Maria Alexandru and in 1968 in mixed with Adalbert Rethi . She won 15 gold medals at Balkan Championships. From 1963 to 1973 she took part in six world championships . In 1969 she reached the final in doubles with Maria Alexandru, and she was also runner-up with the team.

At the European Championships she reached the semi-finals in doubles in 1968 and 1974, in 1968 with Maria Alexandru, in 1974 with Magdalena Leszay.

Her best place in the ITTF world rankings was 12th in mid-1969.
