Eleonora of Toledo (* 1553 in Florence , † July 11, 1576 in Cafaggiolo del Mugello (district of San Piero a Sieve )) was the daughter of Garcia of Toledo and niece of her aunt of the same name , the wife of Duke Cosimo I de 'Medici . She was compelled by Cosimo I de 'Medici to marry his son Pietro de' Medici . When the latter suspected her of adultery, he is said to have killed her with his own sword.

The murder hypothesis is controversial, and the exhumation in 1608 allegedly found no evidence of a violent death.
