Alessandro Allori
Alessandro Allori (* 31 May 1535 in Florence ; † 22. September 1607 ) was an Italian painter of Mannerism .
life and work
Allori was a student of his uncle Agnolo Bronzino , whose name (Il Bronzino) he sometimes adopted. Another role model is Michelangelo , whose works he studied during his stay in Rome from 1554 to 1559. In 1560 he settled in Florence. The nudes after 1570 show him as a typical master of mannerism. He especially painted frescoes and paintings with mythological and religious motifs and was overseer of the grand ducal carpet weaving in Florence.
His theoretical interests, especially in anatomy and proportion theory, found their way into the book Libro de'ragionamenti delle egole del Disegno, written after 1560 . In addition, he produced several drawings of anatomical studies that dealt with the “ deconstruction and reconstruction of the human body” and formed the basis of his body representations.
