Elfie Stejskal

Elfie Stejskal (* 1948 in Vienna ) is a well-known adventure and book author in the 1970s .

Life

She first worked as a stewardess for an airline. She then moved to the Maldives , where she spent almost two months alone and mostly unclothed on an uninhabited island. Then she lived in a local village. Her self-made documentation of this trip in the book Das Mädchen Robinson was published in 1978. The film documentation of this trip described in the book is considered lost.

This was followed by an eleven month stay with the Wayapi Indians in French Guiana . She was accepted as a woman into the Wayapi community.
