from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Elfriede Jelinek Research Center sees itself as an information and communication center on the work of the Austrian author and Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek and aims to research and discuss it. It was founded in November 2004 by Germanist Pia Janke with the collaboration of Peter Clar, Ute Huber, Stefanie Kaplan, Christoph Kepplinger and Christian Schenkermayr.

Research activity

On the basis of the Elfriede Jelinek catalog raisonné , first published in 2004 , which records the author's oeuvre in its entirety, the research center has set itself the task of documenting Jelinek's work and its reception in order to promote a well-founded academic discussion. The Elfriede Jelinek Research Center functions as an internationally networked discussion forum through an extensive collection of materials accessible for research purposes and through regular key events and symposia on Elfriede Jelinek and topics in a broader context.

Collection / archive

The Elfriede Jelinek Research Center systematically collects and archives all materials that are relevant to the scientific study of the author and her work . The holdings of the archive - meanwhile more than 9000 objects - include text copies of Jelinek's works (poetry, short prose, novels, theater texts, libretti, essays, radio play typescripts, scripts , translations), reports and reviews (on the novels, theater texts, radio plays, essays, Scripts, translations, libretti, artistic adaptations), programs, interviews, portraits and a selection of academic secondary literature.

In addition, audiovisual media (recordings of radio plays, radio programs, films and TV programs as well as recordings of events), photos, posters and sheet music are collected.

The archive holdings are digitally recorded and can be called up as an inventory catalog via the multimedia UNIDAM database of the University of Vienna .

Jelinek Schlingensief Blog

The Jelinek Schlingensief blog of the Elfriede Jelinek Research Center deals with the collaborations and relationships between Elfriede Jelinek and Christoph Schlingensief . Between December 2010 and June 2011 theater people, scientists and journalists had their say. In text and video contributions, they reflected on similarities and differences between the two artists or reported on specific projects and performances in which Jelinek and Schlingensief were involved. In addition to these contributions, documentary material was also included, so that the blog represents a kind of archive of the relationships between Jelinek and Schlingensief.
