Elfriede Salzgeber

Elfriede Salzgeber (born June 2, 1939 in Bludenz as Elfriede Burtscher ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and housewife. From 1974 to 1994 she was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

After finishing primary school in Nüziders, Salzgeber attended secondary school in Bludenz and then graduated from Feldkirch Commercial School - St. Josef Institute from 1953 to 1955 . From 1955 to 1985 she worked as a commercial clerk for the Koch car dealership in Bludenz and was then a full-time politician until she retired in 1994.

Politics and functions

Salzgeber joined the ÖVP in 1959 and became a member of the Austrian women's movement and the ÖAAB . From 1965 to 1990 she took on the role of chairwoman of the Nüziders women's movement and from 1970 to 1977 she was the district chairwoman of the Bludenz women's movement. From 1977 to 1994 she then took over the post of regional chairwoman of the Vorarlberg women's movement, although she had previously been deputy regional chairwoman from 1977. At the ÖAAB, Salzgeber was active as a district chairwoman in the women's department of the ÖAAB-Bludenz, and from 1972 to 1980 she was the women's officer of the ÖAAB Vorarlberg. In addition, she held the function of a member of the ÖAAB regional board for Vorarlberg. Salzgeber gradually took on various functions in the ÖVP. From 1977 to 1994 she was a member of the state party presidium of the ÖVP Vorarlberg and was involved as a state party leader until 1994. She also belonged to the ÖVP district party leadership Bludenz and the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vorarlberg.

Salzgeber was active in local politics from 1975 to 1990 as a member of the Nüzider municipal council; on 13 November 1974, she was sworn in as a member of the Bludenz constituency in the Vorarlberg state parliament. She belonged to the state parliament until October 3, 1994, at the beginning of each state parliament period she moved up for a member of the government and was therefore not a member of the state parliament for a short time at the beginning of each period.

In addition to her political functions, Salzgeber worked with the Vorarlberger Familienbund and was involved in the Catholic youth, the parish council and in the church choir of Nüziders. She was also a member of the Nüziders ski club and deputy chairman of the Nüziders Nursing Association.

Private

Salzgeber was born as the daughter of the mayor and head of the Nüziders electricity company, Emil Burtscher, and his wife Benedikta Burtscher. In 1968 she married the building foreman Alois Salzgeber (1936–1995) and was mother of a son in 1974 and mother of a daughter in 1983.
