Decoration of honor of the state of Vorarlberg

The Badge of Honor of the State of Vorarlberg is the most significant honor currently issued by the State of Vorarlberg . The various levels of the order are awarded by the State Council of Honor or on its behalf.

Award practice

The Badge of Honor of the State of Vorarlberg is awarded to persons who have made outstanding, outstanding, extraordinary, significant, special or great services to the State of Vorarlberg through public or private work or whose subject matter falls within the implementation of the state. The awarding of the honorary badge is incumbent on the state council of honorary marks in the office of the Vorarlberg state government , whereby the honored person is issued a certificate. The legal basis is the state's Honorary Signs Act from 1963 (LGBl. No. 16/1963) in its version from 2009. In principle, the validity of the honorary sign expires with the death of the wearer.

Order levels

The medal of honor of the state of Vorarlberg currently comprises 2 levels, with the individual insignia consisting of a commander's cross and a braided ribbon ornament depending on the class . Furthermore, reduced miniatures of the decorations can be worn.

Gold Medal of Honor

A maximum of 24 people may wear a gold medal of honor awarded by the State Council of Honor at the same time. In addition, there are governor and state parliament president , who by virtue of their office automatically receive the badge of honor after election by the state parliament .

In the middle of the gold medal of honor is the Vorarlberg coat of arms on a commander's cross of 55 mm diagonally from tip to tip , which is connected to a red and white collar with a braided ribbon ornament. The cross, which has four bars that are slightly wider at the ends, is made of tombac , red and white enameled and real gold-plated. The braided ribbon ornament in the form of a relief is solid and gold-plated. It connects the cross with the 45 mm wide and 50 cm long collar via a loosely movable, gold-plated clasp.

Silver badge of honor

In contrast to the Golden Decoration, there are no numerical restrictions for its award.

The silver medal, like the golden one, consists of a commander's cross, diagonally only 50 mm in size from tip to tip, and a braided ribbon ornament and is worn on a red and white collar. It is also made of tombac, enamelled in red and white, real silver-plated and bears the national coat of arms in the middle . The braided ribbon ornament is also made in relief and solid and silver-plated, but smaller than in the gold medal. It connects the commander's cross with the 40 mm wide and 50 cm long collar via a loosely movable, silver-plated clasp.

Privileges

Every holder of a badge of honor is entitled to wear the badge of honor as a miniature or the ribbon in the form of a rosette or a narrow bar and to call himself the owner.
