Elginfield Observatory

The Elginfield Observatory (Elginfield Observatory) is a Canadian observatory located in Middlesex Center , about 25 kilometers north of London , in the province of Ontario . It is owned and operated by the University of Western Ontario .

The observatory was opened in 1969 and has the IAU number 440.

The main instrument is a Ritchey-Chrétien telescope with a diameter of 47 inches (1.2 m), which can be configured as a Cassegrain , Nasmyth , or Coudé telescope. The telescope is mainly used for spectroscopy and photometry . The latest research deals with the monitoring of changes in size in Cepheids , the estimation of outgassing in asteroids and the search for large Perseids .
