Elias Salomon
Elias Salomon (born January 27, 1814 in Heilsberg , † February 5, 1885 in Bromberg ) was a German medic.
Life
Elias Salomon was born the son of the merchant Gerson Salomon. To study medicine, he went to the University of Königsberg. In 1837 he became a member of the Corpsland Team Normannia . After completing his studies and doctorate as Dr. med. he established himself as a general practitioner in Szamocin . Later he was a medical councilor in Bromberg. In 1861 he took part in a scientific competition advertised by the South German Psychiatric Society on the subject of "What are the causes of the suicides that have become so prevalent in recent times and which means are to be used for contraception?" Using statistical methods, a novelty in medicine at the time, he was able to prove that the question for the scientific competition was based on erroneous assumptions and that there was no general increase in suicide cases.
As a poet, he wrote the text of the famous student song Fiducit . At Christmas 1835 he dedicated a few poems to Karl Rosenkranz , Immanuel Kant's successor on the chair for philosophy in Königsberg, as a token of his admiration for the academic teacher.
The Corpsland Team Normannia Königsberg elected Elias Salomon as an honorary member.
