The Eliasburg is the central sanctuary of the community in Christ Jesus or "Lorenzianer". It is located in Pockau-Lengefeld .

Building history and architecture

After the communion in Christ Jesus had abolished communion with the Saxon regional church , the need for a central meeting place grew. When the hall, which was converted into a temple in 1923 in Marterbüschel in the Ore Mountains , which at that time belonged to Lengefeld and was reclassified to Pockau in 1948 , turned out to be too small, a new, much larger temple was built in 1927/1928 with donations from the parishioners on a plot by Hermann Lorenz ' in tufts of torture.

The facade of the simple building is characterized by a mighty central projection reinforced with triangular battlements , which is crowned with a man- high white cross . The upper floor has a brick cross on each side. Above the main portal on the north-west side of the building is the gold-colored lettering “Elias-Burg” and a large window based on the shape of a hexagram , which is repeated on the opposite side. The two rear thirds of the building, which encompass the hall, are provided with large windows that taper upwards.

inner space

The hall with up to 1000 seats in the interior is surrounded by several smaller chambers and architecturally follows the Israelite temple construction. On the southeast side there is an apse covered by a semi-dome , above which is the inscription "Those who sow with tears will reap with joy" ( Psalm 126 : 5). The main altar shows the image of Jesus and the sinking Peter and the parable of the ten virgins. On the opposite side there is an organ on a gallery with a prospectus adapted to the vault-like coffered ceiling .

Others

In a small park in front of the main entrance is the grave of Hermann Lorenz, on which there is a life-size Jesus figure with a cross on a pedestal. Lorenz's “ parchments ”, those “ revelations ” that he wants to have received as a prophet of the religious community, are in simple form in the Eliasburg. They have the same rank as the Bible to the members . Divine service meetings take place once a week in the Eliasburg. Non-members of the community are generally not allowed.
