Udo Eling

Udo Eling (* 1962 in Thuine ) is a German author, satirist and journalist.

Life

Eling, who grew up in Lingen (Ems) (Abitur at the Gymnasium Georgianum Lingen ) initially wrote radio satires for the Süddeutscher Rundfunk. From 1990 he was the author of the satirical puppet show " Hurray Germany " on ARD. From 1991 to 1998 Eling was the satirical "house author" of the programs " ZAK " and " Privatfernsehen " by Friedrich Küppersbusch .

In 2010 he took part in the show "The Long Night of Helmut Kohl". In September 2010, together with Christian Spanik, he produced a travel report entitled “There used to be a death strip here” about a bike tour along the former German-German border.

Udo Eling is the "chief satirist" of the ARD morning magazine with a regular broadcast slot.

He now mainly works for WDR, often with his wife and co-author Philine Eling since 1995. The two have a son, the automotive journalist Jonas Eling .

In 2010 Udo Eling was honored with the Ernst Schneider Prize for economic reporting for a contribution about a screw
