Elisabeth (Elsbeth) Bonhoff (* July 2, 1921 ; † October 1, 2003 ) was a German entrepreneur and founder.

Elisabeth Bonhoff, the mother of the fashion entrepreneur Werner Bonhoff , set up two foundations after the loss of her two children from her son's estate: the Werner Bonhoff Foundation and the Elsbeth Bonhoff Foundation .

On July 2, 1921, Elisabeth Bonhoff, called Elsbeth, was born to the miner Gustav Schmidt von Happe and his wife Sophie. The 1941 marriage with the businessman Kurt Bonhoff resulted in their son Werner in 1943 and their daughter Erika in 1947. Soon after the war, the Bonhoffs opened a textile shop in the center of Castrop-Rauxel . When Elsbeth Bonhoff's husband died at the end of 1982, she gave up her own business in order to actively support her son Werner Bonhoff, who was now 61 years old and who owned several textile shops in Berlin.

Elsbeth Bonhoff survived her two children. On November 1, 1980, her daughter Erika was the victim of robbery and murder in her brother Werner Bonhoff's shop on Tauentzien in Berlin . The perpetrator was never caught. On February 12, 2000, her son Werner, at the age of 57, had a fatal accident in his single-engine sports aircraft over northern Germany. The goals of the Werner Bonhoff Foundation emerge from this tragic story. In memory of Werner Bonhoff, this promotes free entrepreneurship and projects to prevent violence. The Elsbeth Bonhoff Foundation supports osteoporosis research in Germany. Elsbeth Bonhoff died on October 1, 2003.
