Werner Bonhoff
Werner Bonhoff (born January 29, 1943 in Castrop-Rauxel ; † February 12, 2000 ) was a German entrepreneur .
Life
Werner Bonhoff grew up with his four years younger sister Erika. His parents Kurt and Elisabeth Bonhoff , called Elsbeth, ran a textile shop in the center of Castrop-Rauxel.
After attending the commercial college, Werner Bonhoff completed an apprenticeship as a textile retailer, attended the renowned textile college in Nagold ( Black Forest ) and gained his first professional experience in the textile and retail trade in Berlin. After a year-long stay in the USA and various jobs, he returned to Berlin in 1968 and opened his first own textile shop for women's clothing (DOB) in Berlin-Mariendorf. Further branches in Berlin followed. The best known was at Tauentzien 18 in the immediate vicinity of the KaDeWe . At the end of the 80s, Werner Bonhoff switched from textile retailing to real estate business. Among other things, he acquired a skyscraper in the city of Boston , the Bonhoff House in Dresden and at Tauentzien 18 in Berlin. This established the considerable fortune from which his mother established the Werner Bonhoff Foundation in 2002 in memory of her son and the Elsbeth Bonhoff Foundation for research into osteoporosis . The Werner Bonhoff Foundation motivates entrepreneurial people to share their bureaucratic experiences so that others as well as the administration and the legislature can learn from it. Every year it honors outstanding cases with the "Werner Bonhoff Prize against the §§ jungle".
In addition to various sports, Werner Bonhoff drove regular races in his 600 hp Porsche and won many trophies. In the end he had done flying. In addition to the private pilot license, he acquired the aerobatics license. On February 12, 2000, Werner Bonhoff crashed with his single-engine sports machine and two other inmates over northern Germany. The Berliner Morgenpost headlined at the time: "Berlin's fashion king flew to his death with all his wealth".
