Elisabeth Prince 1953

Elisabeth Fürst (born December 24, 1904 in Nuremberg ; † 1989 ibid) was a primary school teacher and author in Nuremberg.

Life

Her father was a teacher from Lower Franconia, her mother came from Nuremberg. Elisabeth Fürst described the day of her birth in dialect:

“Born in Nermberg on Christkindlsobnd
and gorged to Sunntog derzou,
if nothing goes wrong, na mou i scho sogn:
Möih raised i mer give over gnou!

En Christbam, whom I raised og'schaut as a shock
and wöi's mi zer Taf hom hietrogn,
do wern bal döi Kindsi and midwife 'derfrurn,
su cold what tho , net zu so.

She worked as a primary school teacher in Nuremberg until 1966, during which time she completed a private language course and made several trips abroad, including to Greece.

Her sister was an art teacher at the Labenwolf secondary school in Nuremberg. Both were unmarried. In 1966 Elisabeth Fürst founded the Collegium Nürnberger Dialect Poets together with several other authors , which still exists today.

She wrote poetry and prose in standard German and dialect; over a hundred poems were set to music by various composers.
