history

founding

The Collegium Nürnberg Dialect Poets was founded in 1966 in Nürnberg by the following authors:

The founding members had already met regularly in an informal “work group” that met at the invitation of the publisher Karl Borromäus Glock in the Yellow Castle in Heroldsberg . In this circle, encouraged by K. B. Glock, the idea of founding the association grew.

The vernacular manifestos

At the same time as it was founded in 1966, a "Manifesto on Dialect" was also published, to which the "2nd Manifesto for dialect poetry ”followed, issued. In these manifestos, a more conservative attitude towards dialect poetry was expressed. Among other things, innovations were rejected, for example in the vocabulary of the dialect (especially Anglicisms), and turned against overly revealing or critical presentation. Literally it says in the first manifesto: “By cultivating the dialect ... according to the lasting laws of the art of language, we symbolically embody the people of this city ... They (author's note: 'the dialect') lives far from all perversities, their The German present at times seems to boast in its literature. "

The further development of the college

In addition to the individual activities of the members (publications and individual readings), joint public readings by several or all members of the Collegium in Nuremberg, Erlangen , Heroldsberg and Zirndorf were organized regularly from 1969 , including an annual reading in Nuremberg. At these events one worked together with the working group of Franconian folk music , whose members took over the musical arrangement. In addition, the Collegium regularly participated in events organized by the Nuremberg Culture and Leisure Office (e.g. summer in Nuremberg ). The Collegium and the authors associated with it became known beyond the borders of Franconia through contributions from its members in the series of the Bavarian Radio “Am Abend in der Stubn” , “Bairisch Herz-Fränkische Ausgabe” and “Wort in der Volksmusik” . The Collegium itself estimates that its members have submitted more than a hundred larger or smaller publications in Franconian dialect. Almost forty books by members of the college have been published by the Glock & Lutz publishing house, which has since been disbanded and based in Heroldsberg, and more by the Albert Hofmann publishing house . Nuremberg.
