Elisabeth Jappe

Elisabeth Jappe (* 1934 ) is a German art critic and art scholar .

Life and accomplishments

Elisabeth Jappe was married to the art critic and artist Georg Jappe († 2007). In 1981 she founded the Moltkerei Werkstatt in Cologne as a place for performance art . In 1987, together with Klaus Staeck and others , she turned against the attempt by the collector Peter Ludwig to enhance Nazi art through presentation in museums.

Jappe has published several times on the subject of performance . In 1987 she curated the performance program of documenta 8 .
