Elisabeth Veldhues

Elisabeth Veldhues (born January 19, 1949 in Rheine ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She is the managing director of the SPD parliamentary group in the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Assembly and was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2005 to 2012 - with a brief interruption in 2010 .

After her secondary school leaving certificate at Fürstenberg-Realschule, Elisabeth Veldhues completed an apprenticeship for the middle general administrative service at the Deutsche Bundesbahn from 1966 to 1968 and then worked as a federal railway assistant until 1972. After the birth of her child, she took a family break from 1972 to 1975 and worked as a commercial clerk until 1993, after which she held the post of parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group in the state house of the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association (LWL).

Elisabeth Veldhues has been a member of the SPD since 1972, a member of the board of the Rheine local association since 1981 and was chairwoman from 1981 to 1993. In 1972 Elisabeth Veldhues was a founding member of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women (AsF) Rheine. Since 2003 she has been a member of the board of the SPD state association in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1979 she was elected to the district assembly of the Steinfurt district for the first time . Since 1984 she has been one of the SPD members of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe.

Elisabeth Veldhues is a member of the ver.di union and the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) . She is also a board member of CeBeeF (club for the disabled and their friends in the Steinfurt district).

Since 2005 she was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the state elections in May 2010 , she initially lost her mandate, but was able to return to the state parliament on August 23, 2010 due to the departure of Gisela Walsken . After the early elections in 2012, she left the state parliament.

Since August 17, 2015, Veldhues has been the disability officer for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. She succeeds Norbert Killewald .

Elisabeth Veldhues has five siblings. She is married and has one child.
