Elise Wysard-Foxes

Elise Wysard-Füchslin (* 1790 ; † August 30, 1863 in Biel ) was a Swiss painter and etcher .

Life

Elise Füchslin married the painter and etcher Gottlieb Emanuel Wysard around 1810 . Elise Wysard-Füchslin worked as a draftsman and colorist in her husband's studio until the separation in 1823. She then published depictions of traditional costumes and Swiss genre scenes at her own address in Bern, some of which she made according to other minor masters such as Markus Dinkel and Gottfried Locher . Like her husband, she also worked in Biel, where she died in 1863. In Biel, Elise-Wysard-Strasse is named after the artist.
