Elisebeht Markström (born December 14, 1955 in the Församling St. Nicolai, Södermanland County ) is a Swedish politician of the Sveriges socialdemokratiska arbetareparti .

Life

Markström was a member of the Swedish parliament from October 1995 to October 2010 . There she was a deputy member of the constitutional committee until 2006. In addition, she was a deputy member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs until 1996, a deputy member until 1998 and a member of the Committee on Health and Social Affairs until 2002 and finally a member of the Justice Committee until 2010.

From January to May 2008 she was deputy chairman of the joint committee for justice, health and social affairs, and from 2006 to 2010 deputy chairman of the Riksdag board of directors. From October 2002 to November 202 she was a member of the delegation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe .

The politician, who has been living openly in personal contact for a long time, had her going public in an interview in the March issue of the scene magazine QX in 2006 and was Sweden's first openly lesbian MP. She lives with her partner Christine Gilljam, has a married daughter and a grandson.
