The Elkersberg is located in the municipality of Wilnsdorf in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in North Rhine-Westphalia between the towns of Wilnsdorf and Wilden . It has a height of 443.5  m .

The federal motorway 45 runs right along the mountain . Between 2003 and 2004 part of the north-east side of the mountain was removed, on the created plateau a truck stop with a hotel, a gas station, a game library and a fast food restaurant, all of which were opened in 2005, as well as an adjacent industrial area named "Wild North" .

Below the Elkersberg in Mittelwilden, the Morgenröte pit was located at a height of approx. 380  m . Your tunnel entrance has fallen into disrepair and has been blocked by a fence, a bench and fences have been built as a vantage point on the heap.
