Elleander Morning

Elleander Morning or The War That Didn't Happen (orig. " Elleander Morning ") is a 1984 science fiction novel by the US writer Jerry Yulsman . It is the author's first work.

action

Vienna, Austria in 1913: The young Elleander Morning shoots a young art student named Adolf Hitler in a cafe . The woman is arrested for murder and put on trial. The court asked her to explain the murder, but remained silent, after which she was sentenced to death and later executed.

1983: Lesley Baumann, Elleander Morning's granddaughter, tries to find out why her grandmother shot the young art student and begins investigating. While searching for the truth, she finds two strange issues of Time Life magazine. The strange thing about the magazines is that they describe World War II in great detail. But there has never been a war like this. Did Elleander Morning prevent this war by murdering Adolf Hitler?

Jerry Yulsman wondered what would have happened if Adolf Hitler had been killed before he came to power and decided to write an alternate world story about it.

Awards

The novel was a great success and was awarded several prizes, including the Australian Ditmar Award 1986 and the Kurd-Laßwitz Prize in 1987 as the best science fiction novel of the year.
