Elmar Harbrecht (born February 24, 1969 in Stendal ) is a former German volleyball player and today's volleyball and beach volleyball coach.

Career as a player

Elmar Harbrecht played volleyball in the middle block position. He completed 26 international matches for the GDR and played seven years in the Bundesliga for Post Telekom Berlin and later in the Second Bundesliga for Fortuna Kyritz and Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen . In 1995 he took part in the Beach World Tournament in Berlin with Matthias Kuring .

Career as a coach

Harbrecht has been a coach and assistant trainer for youth and junior national teams ( VC Olympia Berlin ) and other teams in the hall since 1997 . From 2001 to 2008 he was the trainer of the beach volleyball Olympic base in Berlin. The beach teams supervised by Harbrecht have won numerous medals at world and European championships. From 2009 to 2018 he was the national coach of the German beach youth U20 / U21.

Private

Elmar Harbrecht has been married to beach volleyball player Katrin Holtwick since 2011 .
