Elof (rarely: Elov ) is a male given name, which is derived from the Old Norse Eilífr with the meaning "the forever living". It is mainly awarded in Sweden , Finland and Norway and knows numerous variants of the same origin such as Ellef , Ellev , Eiliv, Eilif or Eluf . The patronymic surname of Elof is Elofsson .
