Elsa Justel (* 1944 in Mar del Plata ) is an Argentine composer .

Justel studied music education and choral conducting at the conservatory in her hometown, then composition at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario with Virtú Maragno , Sergio Hualpa and Eduardo Tejeda and in Buenos Aires electroacoustic music with José Maranzano and Francisco Kröpfl . Since 1980 she has been teaching avant-garde music in Mar del Plata.

In 1988 Justel went to France, where she obtained a doctorate in music aesthetics, science and technology at the Université de Paris VIII under the direction of Horacio Vaggione . In 1990 she took part in the Darmstadt summer courses . For her compositions she received a. a. Prizes at the Concours de musique radiophonique de La Muse en Circuit (2003), the Concours Phonurgia (2001) and the Tribunas de música contemporánea et electroacústica (1987, 1989 and 2000), in 1992 she received the Prix ​​Ars Electronica in Linz , 2002 in the Netherlands the Prix ​​Ton-Bruynèl .

In addition, Justel is also active in the field of audiovisual art and composed film and drama music. In 2002 she won an award at the Video Evento d'Arte and the Bourges competition for the music for the video Destellos . In 2008 a CD with works by the composer was released under the title Mâts .
