Virtú Maragno

Virtú Maragno (born March 18, 1928 in Santa Fe , † February 24, 2004 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine composer.

Maragno studied first with the Liceo municipal of Santa Fe and from 1947 in Buenos Aires with Antonio de Raco and Vincenzo Scaramuzza piano and with Luis Gianneo composition. In 1959 he completed his studies at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Goffredo Petrassi , Dante Zanon and Franco Capuana . At the invitation of Bruno Maderna , he worked in the electroacoustic music department of Italian radio ( Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro della Radio Italiana ).

After his return to Argentina he taught a.o. a. at the University and the State Academy of Music of Buenos Aires and founded the Latin American Chamber Orchestra of the State Academy of Fine Arts (ANBA; later Ibero-American Chamber Orchestra ), which was dedicated to promoting the works of Latin American composers. 1979 to 1980 he directed the choral society Lagun Onak .

Maragno composed an opera , a symphony , concerts, chamber music works and film music.
