Elvan Korkmaz

Elvan Korkmaz-Emre (* 27. July 1985 in Gütersloh ) is a German politician of the SPD and diploma in administration. Since September 27, 2014, she has been one of four deputy chairmen of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia . It has been represented in the Bundestag via the state list since 2017 .

Life

Korkmaz was born in Gütersloh in 1985 and grew up there with two siblings. In 2005 she graduated from the Gütersloh municipal high school and began a dual course of study to become a graduate in administrative management (FH) at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences . After graduating, she worked in the Bielefeld job center from 2008 to 2009. Since 2010 she has been employed as a clerk for urban development in Bielefeld. At the same time she is studying economics at the Distance University in Hagen .

From 2010 she was General Secretary of the Association of Alevi Young People in Germany and moved to the Supervisory Board in 2013. In the same year she was elected to the board of the Kreisjugendring Gütersloh.

Since 2014 she has been teaching as a part-time job at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Bielefeld.

In 2011 she joined the SPD. In the 2014 local elections she ran as a district administrator in the Gütersloh district and lost 38.34% to the incumbent Sven-Georg Adenauer , whose deputy she is today. At the same time, it moved into the Gütersloh district council via first place on the reserve list. On September 27, 2014, the party congress of the SPD in Cologne elected Korkmaz with 90.1% as deputy chairman of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia . She thus succeeded Thorsten Klute .

In 2017 Elvan Korkmaz was elected to the Bundestag via the NRWSPD state list .

There she is a full member of the Committee for Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the Digital Agenda Committee and the “Artificial Intelligence” study commission. She is also a deputy member of the Committee for Building, Housing, Urban Development and Local Authorities. In addition, she sits on the supervisory board of the infrastructure company for motorways and other federal highways of the German Bundestag.

In Düsseldorf, the vice-chairwoman of the NRWSPD Elvan Korkmaz is a member of the board of directors as well as the executive committee of the NRWSPD. She is also a member of the SKGNRW regional board. Until 2017 she was also a member of the WDR Broadcasting Council.

At the local level, Elvan Korkmaz is a member of the special purpose association assembly of the Verkehrs-Verbund Ost-Westfalen-Lippe (VVOWL) ​​as well as the association assembly of the local transport association Westphalia-Lippe.

In the district of Gütersloh, the deputy district councilor Elvan Korkmaz is a member of the district council and deputy chairwoman of the district committee. She is also a member of the Transport and Road Committee, the Labor and Social Committee, the Finance and Auditing Committee and the Youth Welfare Committee. Until 2017 she was also a member of the Environment Committee of the Gütersloh district. She is also a member of the Gütersloh district police advisory board and the Pro Wirtschaft GT supervisory board.

Elvan Korkmaz is a board member of the SPD Gütersloh city association and an expert citizen of the city of Gütersloh. She is a member of the Committee for Social Affairs, Families and Seniors, the Committee for Environment and Order, the Committee for Economic Development and Real Estate, the Planning Committee and the Monument Committee of the City of Gütersloh. Until 2014 she was a member of the education committee of the city of Gütersloh.
