Origin and meaning

The name comes from the Scandinavian region and occurs particularly in Iceland , but also in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Faroe Islands . Elvar is derived as a two-part name from Old Norse alfr (the elf) and arr (the warrior) or from Old Norse elfar (the rivers). Elvar is also derived as a variant of the names Alvar and Elver and as the male form of the name Elva.
