Elwand

The Elwand was the Scottish ell and was a measure of length at least until the introduction of the newer English measures in 1826.

The measure was divided into 27 inches (bulkhead), which corresponds to about 37 1/5 inches (English).

  • 1 Furlong = 40 cases = 240 Elwand
  • 1 fall (ancie at Scotts Fall) = 6 Elwand = 5 2/3 meters (= 5.66916 meters)
