Emanuel Aguilar
Emanuel Abraham Aguilar (born August 23, 1824 in Clapham (London); † February 18, 1904 in London ) was an English pianist, music teacher and composer of Spanish-Sephardic origin. Aguilar was the brother of the writer Grace Aguilar .
Live and act
Aguilar received his piano and composer training in Frankfurt . In 1848 he performed with great success in the Leipzig Gewandhaus. From this moment he worked successfully as a piano teacher in London, but also appeared as a concert pianist.
Aguilar composed two operas, three cantatas, three symphonies, two overtures and numerous chamber music works. He is well known for his notation and arrangements of the liturgical music of the Amsterdam synagogue.
