Emanuel Round

Emanuel Aronson Rund (* 1946 in New York ) is a German-American filmmaker ( documentary film ), producer, publicist and historian.

Life

Emanuel Rund was born in New York in 1946 as the child of German-Jewish emigrants from Berlin and Leer (East Frisia) . He grew up in Jerusalem . He first worked as a photo journalist in the USA and trained as a film cameraman at CBS. He has directed and cameraman on many film and television productions and commercials. He taught film in New York and also worked in Los Angeles, Nashville and Jerusalem. In 1984 he moved to Germany, where he made his most important documentaries. Two films were made in collaboration with Elie Wiesel . Today he lives in Munich, where he temporarily worked as a cantor for the local Jewish community.

Awards

  • The film received the “Silver Hugo” award at the Chicago International Film Festival.
