Emanuel Sievers
Emanuel Graf von Sievers ( Russian Эммануил Карлович Сиверс / Emmanuil Karlovich Siwers * April 27 . Jul / 9. May 1817 greg. , † May 12 jul. / 25. May 1909 greg. In Wenden , Governorate of Livonia ) was German Baltic count and Russian senator as well as chief steward.
Emanuel von Sievers was one of the sons of General and Senator Carl Gustav von Sievers . He studied in Saint Petersburg and then entered the Russian civil service. In 1858 he was promoted to director of the Department of Foreign Cultures in Moscow . In 1864 he was appointed court master of the Russian Empire, elected senator in 1873 and finally appointed chief court master by Tsar Alexander II in 1877 . In 1878 he founded a brewery in his hometown of Wenden (today Cēsis in Latvia ), which today operates under the name Cēsu Alus and produces, among other things, the beer named after him, Grafs fon Zīverss .
Emanuel Graf von Sievers was married to Elise Countess Koskull (* 1824, † 1901). He died on May 25, 1909 on his castle estate in Wenden.
