Emanuele Negrini (born April 28, 1974 in Bologna ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Career

His professional career was moderately successful. He only won one stage of the Tour of Japan and one stage of the Tour of Austria . After 2001 he concentrated on amateur sport , especially the cycling marathon , and from then on celebrated extraordinary successes. For example, he won three editions of the Ötztal Cycle Marathon . He has won the Maratona dles Dolomites five times and is the record winner of this race.

2009 doping ban

On June 21, 2009, Negrini was tested positive for the use of the doping substances betamethasone and triamcinolone at the Gran Fondo Sportful in Feltre , where he took second place . These substances serve as stress hormones to mobilize existing energy reserves and have a performance-enhancing effect. He was initially banned for six months, beginning in December, and later for two years.
