The Embalse de Plasencia (sometimes also called Embalse de Jerte ) is a reservoir of the Río Jerte in the Spanish autonomous community of Extremadura in the immediate vicinity of the city of Plasencia . It is operated by the SEPREM ( Sociedad Española de Presas y Embalses ).
Function and history
The dam , which is mainly used for river regulation and irrigation purposes , was built around five kilometers northeast of the city of Plasencia and completed in 1985.
Data
The gravity dam is 42.50 meters high and 503 meters long; the apex of the dam is about 372.50 meters above sea level. d. M. The comparatively small reservoir has a maximum capacity of 59 million cubic meters and is 6.67 km² in size.
