Emerentiana
Saint Emerentiana was a Roman martyr who lived in the mid 3rd or early 4th century. Her feast day is January 23rd.
Life
According to the legend of St. Agnes of Rome , Emerentiana was a slave, her mother was Agnes' nurse and nurse . Agnes was a wealthy Roman heiress who died a martyr's death for refusing to renounce Christianity.
A few days after Agnes' death, Emerentiana went to her tomb as a catechumene (i.e., in preparation for baptism) to pray, and was attacked and stoned by a crowd in the process.
Adoration
Her feast day is January 23rd. She is portrayed as a young girl who either has stones in her lap and lilies in her hand or is being stoned by the crowd. Her grave is in the church of Sant'Agnese fuori le mura in Rome. An altar dedicated to her with a marble relief by Ercole Ferrata depicting her martyrdom stands in the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone .
